The IRS Business Mileage Rate for 2008 was adjusted at mid-year to 50.5 cents per mile from January 1 through June 30 and 58.5 cents per mile from July 1 through December 31, 2008.

What To Bring With You

Print out the following checklist before you come to see us:

To ensure that we have everything we need to process your tax return quickly, make sure that you bring EVERYTHING THAT APPLIES to your situation.

    Here's the short, less complicated tax return list:

  1. Prior year tax return
  2. Drivers license for taxpayer and spouse
  3. Social Security cards and dates of birth for all dependents as well as taxpayer and spouse (or make sure you have the correct numbers).
  4. W-2's
  5. Forms 1099-Misc. Independent Contractor income

    Please review the rest of this list to see if anything applies to your tax situation:

  6. All 1099-INT, 1099-DIV, 1099-B, 1099-PATR statements
  7. Unemployment compensation Form 1098-G (this may vary by state) Bring in whatever form the state uses to report unemployment compensation benefits.
  8. SS-5 Social Security Benefits Statement
  9. Mortgage interest statement
  10. Real Estate Tax and Personal Property Tax Statements
  11. Income and Expenses from a business you own
  12. Basis of stocks sold
  13. Form 8832 or Divorce decree for non-custodial parent claiming a dependent child
  14. Schedule K-1 from partnership, s-corporation, or a trust
  15. Rent income and expenses for rental units
  16. Non-resident Aliens need to bring in their Visa and Passport and any work authorization documentation
  17. Estimated tax payment amounts
  18. Alimony paid and received
  19. 1099-R - Pension and Annuity income
  20. If part-year Minnesota resident need the dates you moved into the state and the dates in other states if we are going to prepare the other state returns.
  21. All school expenses for anyone on the tax return
